Oh how fun today has been!

I start off the morning with an update to my anti-virus which means all of the CUPC clients in the office are no longer functioning properly. This always makes things interesting. At least I knocked most of that jazz out before anyone really got to working. On to my next favorite hobby (sarcasm) Java programming!
Most of you are saying, “Dan…you HATE programming! Why in the world are you even doing any of that crap!” Well, I will tell you why…so people will quit asking for things. Cisco has a tendency to add features to their base framework and then lagging on implementing them into the main integration interface. One of these is the new Dial URI and sendDigits URI capability that allows for the use of a comma to insert a one-second pause in dialing instead of having to use the old school autodiler.jsp script we all know and love. After reading about these new firmware advances I became very excited only to learn that it did not matter…I was still screwed. TO THE DRAWING BOARD!
After downloading the new Decemberists album (The King is Dead) I began to tackle my challenge. I took some old scripts and the new JAR files and moved to the server only to find out that it did not feel like working properly since someone decided to apply some updates to it…YAY. So, I have tabled that little project for the moment and have moved on to my next challenge…time entry. So, I am off to handle that…be back soon!
PS: I have enlisted the Java expertise of my good friend Steve Savoy. Hopefully he can help. I am server dumb…

We abandoned the linux tomcat server and moved the platform to the 2008R2 box. Things were up quickly and responding. Now I just have to wrap up the integration between the web piece and the CUCM itself. Yay…

A great night of NBC television is over and it is time to wrap up. Tomorrow should be a fun day of network troubleshooting downtown…let us hope it all goes well!
